Stables / Training centre
Once you arrive, you immediately feel right at home and you sense that this yard has something special about it. Holger Hetzel has been adapting the existing complex to create the ideal environment for competition horse training since 1986. Today, the equestrian facility reflects his dedication to detail and eye for the extraordinary, and it’s still expanding. It’s a relaxing place to be whether you’ve got two legs or four. The horses at Holger’s yard couldn’t hope for a more perfect home.
There are a total of 65 stables in four buildings plus one outdoor yard. All of them are practically designed and horse-friendly. Many of the stables have outside doors and windows that open so that the horses can see what’s going on outside and enjoy the Pfalzdorf air. Each stable block has a grooming box, a wash box and a solarium.
The generously dimensioned, light flooded wooden indoor schools have an excellent riding surface that is tended to and maintained by Holger Hetzel himself. The small indoor is sizes 20x50m and the new one is 30x70m- so rider have all possibilities!
In summer, though, the outdoor sand arena is where all the action takes place. 50 x 90 m in size, the outdoor arena is ideal for both dressage and jumping. Its all-weather surface was specially designed for show jumping.
Another eye-catching feature at the competition and training centre is the large grass jumping arena that is filled with brightly coloured show jumps in the summer months. It’s the perfect environment to give both young and experienced horses the confidence they need to perform well in competitions. It’s also big enough, at 80 x 100 m, to give the horses a good gallop.
A circular walker and a treadmill are installed for condition training and, with its range of other facilities, it’s a bit like an equine spa. This kind of luxury is rare, but the horses deserve it.
Holger’s training facilities have everything a professional rider could possibly wish for, though few professional riders have these kind of facilities at their own yards.
“I’d always wanted to build a big indoor arena, and I realised that dream in 2013. Now I have an indoor school that’s the perfect size for the professional and focused training of the horses and riders,” said Holger, explaining the advantages of his new indoor arena. There is always a course of jumps in place, both in the big indoor school and on the outdoor arenas.
Holger’s yard is ideal for both short jumping courses and longer training visits. In spring 2015, a separate stable wing was built for guests with 20 large stables, all featuring outside windows. It also has its own tack and feed rooms, as well as two washing boxes. A second road was built outside the main yard with direct access to the guest wing.
The most important thing is that the athletes have the best conditions for good performances and feeling well: Stress-free conditions are necessary for well-being. Because these are the basic prerequisite for bringing good results.
“Relax and take it easy” is our motto for horses and people!
