Holger Hetzel and his forst Pony Nixe
Holger Hetzel was born on 16 January 1960 in Goch and started with riding at the age of nine. With his first pony called “Nixe” he has competed successfully: he won more than 100 preliminary classes and jumping competitions.
After his time as a pony rider he changed over to horses. With the horse “Simona” he competed in the three disciplines dressage, show jumping and eventing up to elementary classes. He also participates in/Attend to the German Junior Eventing Championship.
When he was 18 years old Holger Hetzel became a member of the C-squad “Jumping” with the horse “Toronto”.
After his school leaving examination Holger Hetzel studied business administration. He completed this successfully and then he began an apprenticeship as a professional rider at Michael Fervers.
In 1982 he completed his apprenticeship and started the first time in an advanced class competition.
Since 1986 Holger Hetzel runs his own equestrian centre, focussed on training and education of young horses and riders and the support of young talents in the jumping saddle.
In 1989 he started the first time in a Nations Cup. His four legged partner was “Lucky-Strike”.
In February 1993 he took the examination for the master’s craftsmen’s diploma to the horse economy master (“Pferdewirtschaftsmeister”).
A further highlight in the year 1993 was the participation at the European Championships with “Gipfelstürmer” under the saddle. With the equipe they got the fourth place.
In 1998 the German National Equestrian Federation appointed him as the new official jumping trainer for junior and young riders in the Rhineland and at the training and performance centre (Stützpunkttrainer). Since that time Holger Hetzel coaches the young talents of the Rhineland at the daily training at home, on shows and on national and international championships.
In 2002 he was awarded by the German National Equestrian Federation with a decoration for the participation at more than 27 Nations Cups.
During the year 2004 the equestrian centre was reconstructed to match the needs of the daily training of the sport horses.
In summer 2005 Holger Hetzel organised an open day, combined with an auction of high quality jumping horses on his own yard.
One year later was a further reconstruction of the yard to increase the training possibilities for rider and horse. In December was a successful second auction of sport horses.
In November 2007 Holger Hetzel organized the third sport horse sale, which was bigger and more grandiose than the two years before. Interested people had the chance to watch the auction live via Internet and they could also bid on the horses online for the first time in Germany!
2008 was the fourth sport horse sales by Holger Hetzel with a simulcast on the Internet.
Meanwhile the auction became an established date in his diary and those of riders and horse owners around the world. Holger Hetzel had approximately 600 guests!
The 5th sport horse sales in 2009 was again a great success: Live covering on the Internet, a donation for the Ann- Kathrin Linsenhoff UNICEF foundation, exceptional horses and a lot of guestes...
The auction 2010 was again a super event with exceptional horses.
On 30th November 2011 records were broken at the 7th sport horse sales: For a total of 2 million Euros, all 17 exceptionally talented young horses were sold to German and foreign clients. The new owners from Russia, Italy, Holland, Luxembourg, Turkey, USA and Switzerland were unbelievable happy as well as the clients from Germany. A colt was sold for a good deed for 14.000 €. Mrs Ute-Henriette got the cheque personally. The atmosphere was again great; lots of enthusiastic visitors from around the world attend the event. The sport horse sales becomes always better, bigger and more international!
In 2013 he build a huge new indoor (30x70m) and is now also organizing shows.
On 3rd December 2014 the 10th Sport Horse Sales took place and was an amazing success.
Today Holger Hetzel trains and coaches several young horses and riders at his equestrian centre in Goch. He has talented and experienced horses for sale in his stable... His instinct for quality and his knowledge and experience benefits the daily work and is confirmed again and again ....
