December 2012: Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year

Laura and Polly in Spain

The contemplative Christmas time and the upcoming turn of the year makes us thoughtful and reflective. The Team Holger Hetzel looks back to a very successful year 2012, which was shaped by several moments of achievements and happiness. Especially the victory in the Grand Prix of Oldenburg with Little Tinka and the successful 8th Sport Horse Sales were great and emotional moments we really enjoyed. Our team did great work during this year and was very happy about the great results of our horses and students.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all you for your solidarity, your support and for your faithful cooperation. A very Merry Christmas and the all the best wishes, good health, luck and success for you-my friends, clients and equestrian friends- for the New Year.

All the best,
Holger Hetzel and team

Shows this weekend (13.-16.12.2012)

12.12.2012 Brilliant press response

The press response after my 8th Sport Horse Sales was absolutely enjoyable-from the regional and national newspapers, over to national and international equestrian magazines to German and foreign television reports (German TV transmitter, Class Horse TV from Italy as well as a French TV transmitter) - they all reported enthusiastically about the successful event on my yard. We will try to upload the Television reports shortly.

12.12.2012 New team member: Jens Wawrauschek

Many people have seen him during the auction period- the new team member Jens Wawrauschek. Since 1 November 2012 Jens supports our team and completed his first task already successfully with accompanying my 8th Sport Horse Sales. The rider is responsible for bringing on the young horses and taking them to shows as well as training and coaching the students and clients. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome him again!

10.12.2012 The winter has arrived

Winter has finally arrived! On Friday it snowed continuously, so the yard was covered with a thick layer of snow. On Saturday the sun was shining and everyone enjoyed a wonderful day. Although the snow looks lovely and really brings us into winter and- Christmas spirit, we are a bit glad that this winter weather visited us just a week after the auction ...

Shows this weekend (04.-09.12.2012)

03.12.2012 Laura convinced at Salut Festival

Year after year, the best young riders from Germany and abroad come to Aachen to compete at the “Salut Festival”, the CHIO for young rider. The venerable Albert-Vahle Arena on the CHIO ground was lovingly decorated in a festive Christmas presentation. The conditions are fantastically well; the young riders are competing on the highest level in an unique atmosphere. Our daughter Laura got a starting permission for the Children classes and started with her proven Titanium. In all three classes the twelve year old Amazon showed excellent rounds in the saddle of her four-legged partner and was not impressed by the many spectators and the impressive scenery. With her usual exemplary style and Laura rode super rounds and finished fifth in a 1.20m class. A great end of an excellent show season 2012!

03.12.2012 First auction horse victorious

Mary Poppins

During the auction last Wednesday an euphoria yell was audible when the auctioneer knocked down is hammer in order to sell catalogue number 3. Ines Wolters was full of emotions when she realized that she will be the new rider of the five year old mare “Mary Poppins”. On Thursday she drove back home with the beautiful mare in the back of her lorry and on Sunday she already competed on the show in Damme. The first start could not have been better: Ines and Mary Poppins won a Springpferdeprüfung Klasse A, leaving it a strong starting field with 75 participants behind them. Only three days in the new stables and already victorious, it could not be better! Congratulations!

30.11.2012 Pia-Marie Schröder victorious in Aachen

Timberland and Pia-Marie Schröder

On Wednesday junior Pia- Marie Schröder was guest at my 8th Sport Horse Sales. During this event she brought again the auction 2009 to her mind when she became the owner of Timberland. On Thursday evening, Pia- Marie presented her self-educated gelding at the Salut Festival in Aachen and convinced across the board. In the qualification of the HGW- Bundesnachwuchschampionat 2013, a 1.30m style-jumping competition, the pair finished second with a score of 8.3. After this great start, the 17-year-old Amazon and her nine-year old Numero Uno son won the Final class of the HGW- Bundesnachwuchschampionat, scored with a 8,4. In this 1.30m style class Pia-Marie showed again an impressive and exemplary round. With the victory at the Salut Festival Pia-Marie and Timberland are directly qualified for the final of the HGW Championat, which will be held at the CSI in Brunswick. Congratulations!

30.11.2012 No more hints visible...

During the last months the whole team has worked a lot for the 8th sport horse sales. Especially during the last weeks and days no one spared time and effort to ensure a perfect event. Tents have been built up, temporary floor was laid, furniture has been placed and everything was decorated and cleaned. The auction went were well and was a great event for all of us. Now, only two days later, no more traces are visible. All signs of the big event have been gone, everything has been dismantled, even the temporary indoor has been dissembled. But anyway, we will think back to the auction for a long time- with a satisfied and proud feeling.

29.11.2012 The auction was amazing

Holger Hetzel’s eighth auction at his equestrian centre in Goch attracted some of the big names in international show jumping - not just as spectators but also as bidders. When the auction ended at around midnight, 24 top quality horses had been sold for a total of EUR 2,863,000. The highest bid of the night of EUR 330,000 bought this year’s Bundeschampion Captain Sparrow.

Auctioneer Volker Raulf brought down his uncle’s surgical hammer on the wooden desktop for the 25th and last time at around midnight. It was the final sale in an impressive auction that has evolved into something of an annual family event - not for people who want to be seen, but for people who enjoy seeing each other every year. 24 first rate show jumping horses went under experienced auctioneer Volker Raulf’s hammer. It’s actually a medical implement that used to belong to Volker’s uncle.

He borrowed it one day and liked it so much that he never gave it back. He took bids from the auction attendees in the jam-packed indoor school on 24 excellent show jumping prospects which changed hands for a total of EUR 2,863,000. The average price was EUR 119,291. As expected, this year’s Bundeschampion Captain Sparrow sold for the highest price of all. The Equi Future Champions asset management company from Luxembourg paid EUR 330,000 for the brown Holstein gelding by Cormint I who turns six on 1 January 2013 and they also paid EUR 80,000 for Snickers (6) by Stakkato.

It’s a tradition at this “rendezvous of old friends“ at Holger Hetzel’s place to support a good cause. Nations Cup rider, trainer and auction host Holger Hetzel (52) donated the auction proceeds for a foal with an impressive pedigree (Numero Uno x Waitaki) to the UNESCO Education for Children in Need Foundation. There was a small hiccup in the bids at EUR 12,000. But before portly former football manager Reiner Calmund, who’s also UNESCO representative, had time to get up and do his talk show routine, Ludger Beerbaum put up his hand, raising the bid of EUR 12,000 to EUR 15,000. Now the German four times Olympic gold medal winner and record-holding Nations Cup rider is the proud owner of a new foal. He and his friend, Norwegian championship rider Geir Gulliksen, also put in the highest bid for Dutch gelding Perfect Choice (5) by Numero Uno, whose impressive bloodline includes Libero H and Ramiro Z as grandsires. Ramiro also sired Beerbaum’s famous mare Ratina who is immortalised as a bronze statue outside Ludger’s home in Riesenbeck.

The Hetzel auction had many members of the equestrian high society in attendance. They included President of the German FN Breido Graf zu Rantzau, Olympic team silver medallist in Montreal in 1976 Sönke Sönksen, European Champion, German Champion and chef d‘equipe Lutz Gössing, Olympic bronze medal winner in eventing at the Munich Games in 1972 and current sponsor, national trainer for juniors and young riders Lars Meyer zu Bexten, stewards Liane and Hansi Wallmeier, Belgian ex-World Champion Jos Lansink, former Swiss medal winners Willi Melliger and Thomas Fuchs, who brought along his highly talented son and Junior European Champion Martin, Team European Champion in 2009 Clarissa Crotta, gold medal winner Steve Guerdat, US Olympic champion Chris Kappler and famous Emile Hendrix from the Netherlands. They all joined in the bidding. Chris Kappler bought chestnut Holstein gelding Copperfield (6) for EUR 75,000, Willi Melliger put in the winning bid for six year-old Dutch gelding Verdi`s Nabucco (EUR 85,000) and for the chestnut Hanoverian gelding Perfect Jumper (EUR 75,000).

Alfa Jordan, the four year-old stallion by Air Jordan, went to Russia for EUR 260,000. He’ll be trained and competed by Clarissa Crotta in future. Björn Nagel (Friedrichskoog) bought the Holstein gelding Graf Conrad (EUR 180,000), and Steve Guerdat kept his hand in the air until the hammer went down for grey Oldenburger Cedric (5). The London Olympics champion paid EUR 220,000 for the Catoki offspring, who also has Come On and Baloubet du Rouet blood running through his veins. Mario Stevens will be taking brown gelding Limited Edition (7) with him to Molbergen near Vechta after paying EUR 110,000 for him. Former German national trainer for juniors and young riders Dietmar Gugler bought chestnut Oldenburg-bred The Crown (7) by Balou du Rouet for EUR 200,000. He’s going to be ridden by one of Gugler’s riders, David Will (Pfungstadt). And auction organiser Hetzel also got to keep one of the horses at livery after the auction. The waste management company Lankes in Brüggen-Bracht paid EUR 180,000 for the Dutch-bred mare Everybody`s Darling (4), and they’ve decided to let her stay on in Goch.

This mare will be auctioned off for the UNESCO Foundation tomorrow at my 8th Sport Horse Sales. The UNESCO Foundation was established as part of this programme in 2002. This year is the third time that Holger Hetzel has auctioned off a foal to raise money for a good cause. Dr. Ute-Henriette Ohoven and Rainer Calmund are attending Holger Hetzel’s auction in Goch as UNESCO representative. The German football functionary and ex-manager of Bayer Leverkusen is also a famous presenter, author and TV star. Ute-Henriette Ohoven has been to Goch before. She is organiser of the UNESCO Charity Gala and has been committed to helping children in need for more than a quarter of a century.

26.11.2012 The beginning has beed made

The beginning has been made; the official presentation of the auction horses on Sunday was fantastic and attracted numerous visitors. With a pleasant atmosphere and a nice brunch, many interested people took the possibility and tried their favorite. All horses jumped absolutely great under different riders. Now it's final sprint! Now the last preparations are running …. And on Wednesday is the day of the year: our 8th Sport Horse Sales will take place!

23.11.2012 Special public demonstration on Sunday

There will be a special public demonstration of all auction horses on Sunday 25 November 2012 at 10 a.m. Afterwards there will be an opportunity to ride the horses and enjoy the typical Hetzel hospitality at brunch. Potential bidders who have identified their favourite horse in the collection are very welcome to try it out.

23.11.2012 "Perfect Jumper"-a late entry horse

This isn’t the first time that a last-minute top auction lot has been added to the already sensational collection. This year, too, we have accepted one more excellent young horse for the auction: an athletic five year-old gelding by Perigueux called“Perfect Jumper”. On the dam’s side this talented chestnut horse’s pedigree includes the performance genes of For Feeling, Werther and Garibaldi. You can watch a video clip of this exceptional horse, which has already won 1.30m young horse classes, under the topic “sport horse sales 2012”.

22.11.2012 Interesting interview about the auction

How did I originally come up with the idea of an auction? What motivate me to organise this auction year after year? What are the selection criteria? The horses jump much higher on the auction DVD than the horses you see on other auction videos. Why is that? What is the auction like for the horses? Do they get stressed out by it?

-- Unter the Topic "Sport Horse Sales 2012 - News around the auction" you can read a very interesting interview about background information around the auction with Holger Hetzel

22.11.2012 Training the auction horses is fun

I always mention, how proud I am with this years auction horses and that it is just a pleasure to see the young horses performing. Daily training is just fun…. To give you an impression how fascinating the youngsters are and how they present themselves in the daily training, we made some videos when jumping the four year old stallion “Alfa Jordan” (auction horse nr. 5). Enjoy watching the video!

21.11.2012 One week to go!

The tents have been built, clippers are working all day long, outside the indoor you can hear the four-legged contented snorting and I actually moved a part of my office into the indoor, because I don’t want to miss one second of the training and trying of the delicious auction horses.
The countdown is on- only one week to go! In 7 days my eighth sport horse sales will take place- it is still exciting and connected with much excitement as the first time!

12.11.2012 Little Tinka wins Grand Prix

Yesterday was just amazing ... Little Tinka won the Grand Prix of Oldenburg
presented by ALTE OLDENBURGER Krankenversicherung AG! The gelding jumped already fantastically well in the first round of the 1.45/1.50m class so I decided to attack in the second round. In the jump off my small four-legged partner really gave everything, jumped unbelievable well and showed his enormous fighter-mentality. At the end we had the fastest clear round and won the big class. Both rounds felt fantastic, it was fun to show Little Tinka and being the first in the prize- the ceremony was really an indescribable moment.

I'm incredibly proud of my gelding. The solid education and the concentrated training have being rewarded yesterday. A highlight: Little Tinka and I won the new VW Golf 7- what a prize! In addition we got the qualification for the Masters KÄRCHER League Final in Dortmund and gained valuable points for the Rolex Ranking List. Apart from the sensational success with Little Tinka I was placed fifth with Cheer in an international jumping 1.40 class.

The CSI ** Oldenburg was the last competition for my horses in 2012 and the season could not end better than with a victory in the Grand Pix of Oldenburg (CSI **). Although the year 2012 is not over yet and with the auction a lot of work is waiting for us, I would like to thank my team that really does an excellent job!
And now: Concentration and focus on my 8th Sport Horse Sales on 28 November 2012! We are all highly motivated!

02.11.2012 Interesting movie about my auction

How did I originally come up with the idea of an auction? What motivate me to organise this auction year after year? What are the selection criteria? The horses jump much higher on the auction DVD than the horses you see on other auction videos. Why is that? What is the auction like for the horses? Do they get stressed out by it?
A lot of interesting questions and answers have been discussed last week during the visit of two ClipMyHorse employees at stables. The men filmed impressions of daily training and the training of this year's auction horses and we had interesting discussions in front of the camera. After a day of great workouts, various impressions, a quick look to former auctions and great interviews, a half-hour film was made. This film gives an overall view about our work and philisophy and about the sport horse sales.

Captain Sparrow

The auction candidates at Holger Hetzel’s 8th Sport Horse Sales are impressive in terms of both quality and pedigree. Nations Cup rider Holger has selected the crème de la crème of German youngsters for presentation at this year's auction. The aspiring young competition horses that will be changing hands at the auction in the Rhenisch town of Goch on Wednesday 28 November 2012 include the Bundeschampion of Five Year Old Show Jumping Horses 2012 Captain Sparrow and five year-old Oldenburger Regional Champion 2012 Cedric.
23 top quality performance horses aged between four and seven will be presented to the public at the auction. All of them have impressive competition track records and some of the youngsters have delivered firm proof of their aptitude for show jumping by achieving top championship placings. As usual, nothing has been left to chance this year. “We select the auction horses in a procedure that has proven to be extremely effective over the years to ensure that they satisfy very highest quality standards,“ said Holger Hetzel. “I’m really proud of this year’s collection. It includes 23 absolutely first-rate horses. Obviously, the two that immediately stand out are the Bundeschampion and the Oldenburg Regional Champion, but the others are equally impressive in every respect,“ commented the famous trainer. “I’m one-hundred percent sure that there’s a horse for every rider in our collection.“

The auction videos have been produced over the last few days. Gertje vh Scheefkasteel  by Dill

With a very successful weekend at CSI3* Arena Nova in Wiener Neustadt we began with this years indoor season. Christine and I traveled to Austria with five horses to compete in the international classes. Even it was the first show indoor the horses jumped super and all horses presented themselves fantastically well . Especially the two youngsters Gertje van het Scheefkasteel and Casscora and also the ten year old mare Cheer impressed with clear rounds in all classes they jumped. The six-year old gelding Gertje van het Scheefkasteel was placed in a qualification of the Youngster Tour and finished fourth in the Final of the Youngster classes. The seven-year old mare Casscora jumped also pretty well and was clear in all four courses. In the final of the Youngster Tour, a 1.35m class with jump-off, the daughter of Cassini finished third. Aska finished the opening class without any faults and could learn a lot from all the rounds. vOnce again the ten year old mare Cheer showed brilliant performances. The daughter of Cisco is always focused and highly motivated - it makes fun to present this athlete. In the opening competition (1.45m) Cheer finished eight and in a 1.40 m class of the Silver Tour she was placed fifth. In a 1.45m class of the Gold Tour Cheer jumped again easily and got the seventh rank. In addition to this placement we also collected World Ranking List points, nice! Little Tinka had a good start to the indoor season, the gelding was placed seventh in the opening competition of CSI3 *. In the Grand Prix of Lower Austria we unfortunately recorded a very light fault, but still were able to enter in the placement list. This successful show was already fun and after this positive start to the indoor season I am looking forward to the next shows!

17.09.2012 Little Tinka fourth in Grand Prix

This year the 56th International S.D. Fürst Joachim zu Fürstenberg memorial show in
Donaueschingen was a highlight again. Like every year we have enjoyed the flair and the conditions at the show ground- the scenery and organization is just lovely.
The most exciting day was Sunday: Little Tinka was double clear in the Grand Prix of the three star show and finished fourth. The gelding jumped fantastically well in the 1.60m high, challenging courses- fresh, powerful and easy. It has been really fun to present the horse. Cheer showed again her exemplary attitude and was placed in a 1.45 m class. The ten year old mare mastered all tasks with great vision and ability.
The seven year old mare Polly Pocket finished seventh in a class of the Youngster Tour and I’m very satisfied with her performance.

Shows this weekend (13.-16.09.2012)

10.09.2012 Laura sixth in the final

Laura and Polly Pocket

Since several years I’m the coach of the young show jumping rider (Children, Junior and young riders) of the Rhineland, and year in and year out the German Youth Championship is a special event. But this year it was a new experience for me because it was the first time that my daughter Laura competed at this event. Laura, twelve years old and Polly Pocket, seven years old- there was no younger couple at these Championships. Despite the young age the two ladies showed perfect performances at their first appearance at the German Youth Championships or an event important like this. In both qualifications Laura and Polly showed great rounds and they qualified for the big final of Germanys 20 best rider aged 12-14. This qualification exceeded already our expectations! The final competition on Sunday, a 1.30m class with two rounds, was fantastic; Laura rode highly concentrated and finished sixth. In the overall standings of the Children the couple was 12th. We are all incredibly proud of Laura! One thing I have to say again: Standing at the ground and looking is much more exciting than riding by my own!

Laura (12yo) and Polly Pocket (7yo) in the Final

10.09.2012 Daniela Theelen and Lanzarote seventh

Lanzarote and Daniela Theelen

Since a half year they are a couple and since that time they are very successful together: Junior rider Daniela Theelen and Lanzarote. In the first class they were clear and in the second qualification, a challenging 1.40m class, they had one light fault. In the final on Sunday Daniela rode fantastically well again and became fourth in the 1.40m class with two rounds. All in all Daniela finished seventh in the final ranking- so she’s Germanys seventh best junior rider. Congratulations!

It was a really hot weekend; the summer brought record temperatures up to 40 degrees. Sweating and drinking much as possible was the motto. But it was not just us, whole Germany had to handle with extreme summer weather and luckily we and our four legged athletes were able to handle the temperatures very well. We used the hours in the early morning for training and the horses enjoyed some nice hours in the pasture at pleasant temperatures. Fortunately there are a lot of threes which offered plenty of shade at the show ground in Goch-Asperden. Even it was so hot our riders and horses showed super performances. Laura showed that her stay at Chris Kapplers place was really goof and showed very nice rounds. With a horse owned by Chris Kappler the young Amazon won a class.

21.08.2012 Laura's stay abroad...

Laura and Chris Kappler

Her memories fill countless pages. Probably Laura could write a book about the three weeks that lie behind her. She can talk for hours about her experiences. When the twelve year old girl starts talking about her travel, it is difficult to stop her. During the last three weeks Laura and her mother visited my friend Chris Kappler to make a learning- and riding travel abroad. They lived in Flemington, the stables of Olympic winner Chris Kappler was their home basis.
Even as the two German ladies left Newark airport after several hours in the plane, they were impressed by the typical American image which was offered to them.
"Amazing", the young Amazon assumed her stay with bright eyes and a smile on her face. "Everything, everything, was incredibly impressive".
The days in the United States were peppered with highlights-an inexhaustible potential of interest ("the houses are already an eye-catcher"), a trip to New York by car ("Driving in Pfalzdorf is now possible without looking to the streets"), the equestrian events , and - of course - the fabled "American Way of Life".

Laura and Chris Kappler

Laura and her mother have been shepherded very well by Chris and his team, every day Laura got at least one riding lesson. "It's very disciplined there, when riding a hair net, a small whip as well as spurs, a polo shirt and a belt belongs to the basic equipment," Laura told us and directly after getting this advice Laura matched to the picture of the typical American rider.
They are riding for exactly one hour, very concentrated, "talking is not allowed." The discipline in the stable, the care of the horses and especially the size of the riding areas were quite impressive. Laura was also allowed to compete on two shows; on their way to the show Laura and her mother noticed again the incredible width of the country: they had to drive 500km to the show ground.
Even the show grounds made them briefly speechless: "It was huge; we had to drive by car from the show ground to the stable tent." In the saddle of Casalita the young Amazon showed brilliant courses, stylistically perfect rounds, so coach Chris was proud and gave a big compliment, "Laura is a great kid and can come at anytime".

At the first show Laura and the seven year old mare Casalita were fifth in a Level 2 class and sixth in a Children class at HITS Saugerties. At Hampton Classics they were third and fifth.
Laura is absolutely fascinated about Chris and his entire team. "Chris is absolutely focussed when giving lessons, explains everything very calmly, all Americans are extremely polite and respectful." Most of the impressions are hard to describe, even images and videos can not play the experiences. "I have learned so much and got so many experiences, talking in English works even better now. The three weeks went by way too fast," Laura sums up. Her euphoria has no limits. And the target for the next summer vacation is already clearly defined: America!
Many thanks to Chris, Sarah and the entire team who affordes Laura and her mom an unforgettable stay!

The seven-year old mare Casscora jumped clear in the first round as well as the jump-off of the 1.40m class and finished third. It was just fun to see the horses jumping with their riders Christine, Eduardo and Imma through the different courses, showing an impressive rideability and super way of jumping while they were completely relaxed. Our youngsters dominated several classes, have been judged with the highest marks, won five classes and got several placements:

23.07.2012 Chiara successful at CSIO5* Hickstead

Chiara and Ludger Beerbaum

Ludger Beerbaum and Chiara, sold on my auction in 2007, have had a sensational weekend at the Official International Show Jumping competition (CSIO *****) in Hickstead. In the "FEI Nations Cup of Great Britain" (1.60m class with two rounds) the pair finished clear in the first round. In the second round they had one fault and showed again an exceptional performance. All in all they finished third with the German Equipe.
On Sunday the first nine-year old Holsteiner mare (by Contender) and her rider finished second in the prestigious "King George V Gold Cup", the Grand Prix of Hickstead. After a clear round in the demanding 1.60m high first round they were also clear in the jump-off and were only 0.36 seconds slower than the winner Jan-Hendrik Schuttert with Cerona HS. Third place in the Nations Cup and the silver medal in the Grand Prix of the five-star tournament in Hickstead… Congratulations for this outstanding weekend. The young mare has consistent performances during the current show season and with her rider Ludger Beerbaum she has found an experienced rider, who carefully prepares her for the big jobs. A world-class horse ...

23.07.2012 Finally- that was Gera 2012…

On Sunday afternoon we packed our togs together and literally “broke down our tents” after our two-week stay in Gera. Thanks to an optimal schedule, best conditions, an outstanding organization, great atmosphere and best possibilities for training we had an effective and successful stay at the CSI** show.
In particular the performance of our young horses makes me very proud:

  • The five-year old mare Tinka's Queen finished her two-week stay in Gera without any fault. Both on the grass as well as on the sand arena, she jumped very easily and gained also during the second weekend results in all three classes she competed in. The daughter of Tinka's Boy was placed second, second and fourth in the international Youngster Cup for 5 yo horses
  • Contador (Cassini II x Lancer II) was ridden by Eduardo in the Youngster Tour for the first time and was clear in all classes for 5yo horses. The bay gelding jumped confidently and relaxed and was placed fourth, seventh and tenth
  • Call me Paul (v. Con Air) jumped unaffected by the environment in his usual reliable manner.

Laura and Chris Kappler

  • In the Youngster Cup for six year old horses it was once again Gertje van het Scheefkasteel who was attracting attention. Highly motivated and with a lot of potential he jumped all courses and was able to complete his list of (international) results: The sportsman was placed second, sixth and ninth in the 1.25m classes
  • Also Full of Hope inspired again in the courses. The daughter of Stakkato has recently collected a lot maintenance and now discloses her full capacity and the exemplary rideability in every course. Ridden by Christine the mare was placed in the international Youngster Cup
  • Companiero and his rider Eduardo finished again all courses without any faults. The six-year-old gelding finished third in an international class

  • Impressive were the rounds of Casscora and Christine. The seven year old mare has a seemingly impressive way of jumping and is always willingness to work. The pair was able to collect two green loops for rank six and seven w in the Youngster Cup (1.30m classes)
  • The Colman's daughter Polly Pocket got two placements in the international classes for seven year old horses
  • I rode Cheer in classes of the Silver, as well as in classes of the Gold Tour. The 10yo mare by Cisco demonstrated her scope and her willingness to perform. We became fifth in a 1.40m speed class of the Gold Tour. In 1.45m competition in two phases of the Silver Tour we finished eighth
  • I would like to use this opportunity to congratulate the owners of the exceptional horses and to thank my team, that did a great job in Gera and also at home. Now the horses have a well-deserved break, thanks to the glorious weather they can relax on the fields!

23.07.2012 Students can be proud

Timberland and Pia-Marie Schröder

  • I am proud and pleased with the achievements of our students, who showed respectable performances during the second week of Gera Summer Meeting (CSI **):
  • Carolin Becker and Prudence de Beaufour tanked thanks to great rounds a lot of self-confidence and security. Controlled and focused the Amazon rode her mare through the courses and was able to finished fifth in her first 1.40m class. In addition, the pair placed third, fifth and sixth in international 1.30m classes. A loop in each class- it couldn’t be better!
  • Pia-Marie Schröder and her geldings Timberland (auction horse 2009) and Pascal are a very good team. This routine helped the Amazon to increase their successes significantly. In the saddle of the Timberland the junior rider finished third, fourth, sixth and tenth in the international 1.40m. With Pascal, she could collect various loops for placements as the fourth, sixth and tenth.

Zaire & Ahmet Yar

  • Ricarda Tippkötter presented her mare Aska on the CSI** Silver Tour classes and can be very proud of her horse. The mare turned all her proven quality and jumped pretty well in the challenging classes. Similarly, the six-year-old gelding Samba Oelek, which was ridden in the Youngster Cup. 16.07.2012 One victory and 20 placements

Since a week I and the majority of my team are in Gera to participate at the international show "Gera Summer Meeting" (CSI) for two weeks. The first week was marked by great rounds and many positive experiences and insights. Our horses presented themselves very well and we are more than pleased with a yield of one victory and 20 placements in international classes.
It's just fun, if correct, solid schooling of the horses bear fruit and our training program is confirmed on international level. No matter what age our four legged athletes are and whether they had to jump on grass or sand, all of them demonstrated their individual quality, skills and uniqueness in the different classes.

09.07.2012 Off to Gera!

After taken part at the Toscana Tour in April, we are now going to the GERA SUMMER MEETING, to train and compete for two weeks with a lot of horses and a large number of students. A carefully-earned program of different classes at the CSI and a rising structure ensure that we can focus on training beside the daily work and arenas with direct review in official (international) classes.
The young horses and our students can learn, gain experience and bring in the (international) sport under best circumstances. The GERA SUMMER MEETING, the only multi-week show in Germany, offers the best way to compete with many horses of different ages and train the students under best conditions and check their training achievement under show conditions. We are competing with more than 20 horses in Gera, which meant a lot of planning and organization in the forefront of the trip. But with an experienced team it’s no problem.
The horses and rider / grooms arrived safely yesterday evening at the show ground in Gera. Today they have to do the vet check and tomorrow the first classes will start. We’re looking forward to the upcoming days in Gera and hopefully the weather won’t be too bad.

Shows this weekend (27.06. - 01.07.2012)

25.06.2012 Laura is Vice-Champion

Laura and Titanium

Unbelievable! Our only twelve year old Laura impressed all of us with consistent performances at the Rhenish Championships in Langenfeld last weekend and won the silver medal in the "Holger Hetzel Nachwuchschampionat powered by Equiva" (Championships for junior riders aged 12-16). In the first class, 1.20m style class, the Amazon showed an exemplary round and finished fourth with an 8.1. In the second class, 1.30m, the pair performed again very well and became ninth. In the final on Sunday Laura demonstrated her steely nerves and was clear in the first round of the 1.30m class. Only two other rider were clear in the first round, this emphasises the performance of Laura and Titanium. In the jump-off – Laura’s most lovely task- she rode on risk, had the fastest time, but unfortunately one fault. At the end they finished third in this big class.
In the overall standings Laura won the silver medal with two points behind the defending champion Tim Birckenstaedt and since that moment the young lady is smiling without an end.

The recipe for the successes and this meteoric season? Take a portion of hard work, feeling, enthusiasm and interest in equestrian sports, concentrated training and discipline. In addition, a lot of fun when handling a horse (of course, this includes a bit of luck). Most important is a full measure of love, fairness and respect for your horse. Laura handles (not only) Titanium with so much love and respect that they are really friends; the horse is on her side, thy are a team and fight for each other. Congratulations Laura, we are proud of you!

25.06.2012 Tim Birckenstaedt defends title

Pepe and Tim Birckenstaedt

As a matter of the course I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Tim Birckenstaedt for his victory at the “Holger Hetzel Nachwuchschampionat powered by Equiva” (Championship for junior rider aged 12-16) and express my appreciation for his consistent performance.
The talented junior rider created the basis for his title defence in the first class; in this 1.20m class he was scored with an 8.0 and finished fifth. On Saturday in a 1.30m class with ideal tine Tim demonstrated perfect feeling for the time, won this class and took over the lead in the overall standings. In the big final, a 1.30m class with jump-off, he finished sixth and was able to extended his overall leading, he won again the gold medal at this championship. Project title defence succeeded!
I would like to thank Arno Dormann, CEO of EQUIVA, who supports the championship highly powerful as a sponsor.

25.06.2012 Daniela Theelen & Lanzarote win Bronze

Lanzarote and Daniela Theelen

While all three stages of the Rhenish junior Championships Daniela Theelen and Lanzarote were on a medal-course and the pair showed impressive, solid performances in all courses. In every round Daniela rode the gelding very self-confident and concentrated, there was absolutely no doubt about the talent of the young Amazon. The first two classes (1.35m) the junior rider and Lanzarote finished fourth. In the final, a challenging 1.40m class with two rounds, the pair showed again their exceptional talent and got the second rank. In the overall standings the pair won the bronze medal deservedly. Our whole team congratulates to this pleasant success!

25.06.2012 Satisfied riders and horses

Olympic and Marie-Theres v. Fürstenberg

  • There were some more satisfied faces in Langenfeld: Marie- Theres von Fürstenberg can be very proud on her performances during the Rhenish Championship. With her gelding Olympic the Amazon competed in the Young-Rider classes and raised no doubt. The pair was clear in the first as well as in the second class (1.40m) and placed ninth. In the final, a demanding 1.45m class with two rounds, they finished eighth. Overall standing rank seven- congratulations!

25.06.2012 Pia wins "Fair-Ride-Price 2012"

Timberland and Pia-Marie Schröder

On Friday Pia-Marie Schröder and her gelding Timberland (auction horse 2009) got the third rank in the first class of the Rhenish junior Championships show jumping (1.35m). In the other challenging rounds of the Rhenish Junior Championship the Amazon and her horses showed good performances, especially when considering that the Amazon is jumping in 1.40m classes since only a few weeks. Unfortunately Pia-Marie had not so much luck in the course on Saturday, but she still had a reason for being happy: After observation on the practice arena as well as in the course the jury rewarded the Amazon with the "Fair Ride Award". The reason was Pia-Marie’s behaviour to deal with a lack of success. Especially at the Rhenish Championships is a great importance to the respect in dealing with the animal and the "Fair Ride Award" was awarded this year for the first time. The “JuTe” Rhineland honours with this award not the success in the sport, but the human performance in relation to their horses.

18.06.2012 Tim & Power Lady victorious at CSIO-Ch

Last weekend Tim Birckenstaedt went to Hagen to compete at the international Nations Cup show for the youth. The show is considered the "CHIO Aachen for the youth " and every year junior riders from all over Europe come to Hagen, competing in demanding tests. Subsequent to a clear round in the opening class the fourteen year old Tim and the mare Power Lady were nominated for the Children’s Nations Cup.
After two exciting rounds the German team was tied with Austria at number one, so a jump-off had to make the decision at the end. All German rider were clear, for sure also Power Lady and Tim (“unfortunately” the rider from Austria also), so the German team got a respectable second place in the Nations Cup, not because of faults, just because of a slower time.
Even in the Grand Prix of the CSIO-Ch, Tim competed with Power Lady and showed a clear round in the challenging course and bad weather circumstances. Due to the bad weather conditions the officials decided to finish this class without jump-off, so all riders with faultless rounds won. Victorious in the Grand Prix, second place in the Nations Cup- it could not be better! Tim and Power Lady have becoming a great team since the beginning of the year and they really have grown together to a successful team! Congratulations to the whole family!

Eduardo competed in Sevelen last weekend and was able to set exceptional accents with Companiero. The six year old gelding performed fantastically well and represented our stables very positive. The small, but highly talented athlete was clear in four classes he competed in and showed his super character. The pair was placed fifth in a youngster class (1.20m) and finished fourth in a 1.30m class for six year old horses. After a faultless round in a 1.20m class they were placed eighth in a 1.30m class with jump-off. The gelding jumped all classes so great that Eduardo decided for not competing in the jump-off. 05.06.2012 Short journey to CSI Gelderland

My jouney to the show was also very short- it’s only 45 minutes by car from my home to De Steeg, Netherlands, where CSI**/*** took place. This year again the show was set up beautifully, the organization was super and the program beside the jumping-classes was very interesting. Little Tinka jumped easy, did the asked tasks very concentrated and was placed in a 1.50m class of the CSI***. Unfortunately we had one time-penalty so we were not allowed to compete in the jump-off. But this didn’t reduce my satisfaction. Polly Pocket, seven year old daugther of Colman, finished sixth in a 1.30m class of the CSI**.

Zaire & Ahmet Yar

I also rode the mare Cheer, ten year old with the breeding Cisco x Contender. The mare presented herself very well: she showed that she has a lot of scope and the right attitude; it was fun to ride her. The mare got the seventh rank in a 1.40m class of the CSI**. This horse is ready to go!
Ahmet Yar competed at CSI Gelderland the first time in CSI** classes and showed respectable rounds with his eight year old gelding Zaire (auction horse 2011).
He rode very stylistic rounds and was clear in a 1.30m class. Even he was not placed, Ahmet can be very satisfied with his own performance and the performances of his talented horse.
Furthermore he rode „Call me Paul“ in the Amateur Tour and got three placements: Placed fifth in an international 1.15m and 1.25m class and a tenth rank in an other 1.25m class.

Chiara and Ludger Beerbaum

  • Chiara was ridden by Ludger Beerbaum at the international 5* show in Hamburg, which is due to the Derby and the Global Champions Tour-station probably one of the biggest highlights of the international show season. In Klein- Flottbeck Chiara presented herself consistently positive in the big classes on the Derby-field. After a clear round in the opening class the nine-year old mare was also faultless in the first round as well as the jump-off of the Mercedes-Benz CHampionat of Hamburg in and finished on a superb fifth place. The 1.55m class with jump-off was the most challenging task for the young horse till now and it fulfilled this task again with a brilliant manner.
  • The beautiful stallion Kleiner Onkel (auction horse 2009) competed also in Hamburg. Ridden by Vladimir Beletsky the eight year old horse was placed in the 1m40 opening class. En-Rico

21.05.2012 Polly Pocket successful in Munich

Last weekend we traveled to the south of Germany. The wonderful show "PferdInternational Munich" is the largest horse festival in southern Germany, attracting audiences in large numbers to the large show ground. During the show a CSI ***, CSI *, the Youngster Tour as well as the European Youngster Cup and an amateur tour was offered to the spectators and we riders had a lot of possibilities to bring horses . Above all, the seven year old mare Polly Pocket performed fantastically well in the classes of the youngster Tour. The mare was clear and placed in the first class as well as in the Final on Saturday. I firmly believe in the mare, which has great potential and has everything a horse needs to be successful on the big sport.
Christine and the eight year old Zaire (since the auction 2011 owned by Ahmet Yar) competed at the European Youngster Cup and were placed in the final, a 1.45-meter class.

15.05.2012 Great rounds & victories in Nörten-H.

15.05.2012 Special present at Mother's Day

Laura and Titanium

Bedburg-Hau was the destination of Laura's and Titanium’s show-journey this weekend. On Saturday everything fitted, so that the twelve year old Amazon and her "four-legged professor" were able to win the 1m20 class with more than two seconds ahead. It was not able to gain more confidence and security on this first day... On Sunday morning the pair became second in a 1m20 style class. And then it was the time- the 1m30 class began. Even Laura was a little bit nervous, she rode fantastically well and they got an excellent fifth place in this class. For sure Laura was very proud- a special Mother’s Day gift for her Mum and Grandma, who supported Laura again very well.
Sören Weissenborn and his young mare Each Way Bet performed also very super and got to placements in 1m10 classes. A great result, the junior rider can be very satisfied with his season till now.

08.05.2012 Gertje is a Superstar!

Gertje vh Scheefkasteel  by Dill

The "Pappas Amadeus Horse Outdoors" in Lamprechtshausen was a very nice show: great performances of the horses, more or less good weather, fabulous organization and the pleasant atmosphere...
Our youngest horse drew most attention during the international 3* show: "Gertje van het Scheefkasteel "(by Moujik de Sohan). The six year old gelding jumped already fantastically well in Arezzo and even in Lamprechtshausen he flew consistently without faults over the challenging courses of the international Youngster Tour. On the first day Gertje became seventh, Friday he got the fourth rank and on Sunday Gertje could win the big Final for the young horses. Christine and Gertje had the fastest clear round and could refer all other six-and seven-year-old horses in the courts. This gelding is an athlete though and through, all the time highly motivated and he has an exemplary attitude. It’s just fun to see the horse jumping!
In the classes of the European Youngster Tour Christine rode her proven partner Tourbillon van de Zuidhoek and became fifth in the first qualification. In the Final of the EY-Cup (1m45) Christine and Toublillon had one fault and finished ninth.
Furthermore Christine presented Zaire (auction horse 2011), owned by Ahmet Yar. The eight year old gelding and the Amazon were placed seventh in the first class of the EY-Cup. In the second qualification (1m40) the pair was placed third.

I rode Little Tinka in the classes of the Gold Tour. The small gelding jumped again super and gave me a fantastic feeling. In the Championat of Lamprechtshausen (1m50m with jump-off) we were clear in the first round and placed ninth. In the Grand Prix we unfortunately had one fault, what a pity…
Even I didn’t have so much luck in the rounds; I’m absolutely satisfied with the performance of the horses.

08.05.2012 Victories in Kranenburg

Victorious: Sören and Each Way Bet

Not only in Lamprechtshausen, but also in Kranenburg we fortunately were able to harvest the fruits of our concentrated winter work and the stay in Arezzo. Sören Weissenborn started his six-year-old mare Each Way Bet in the classes for young horses and got the score 7.5 in a Springpferdeprüfung Klasse L. Although they didn’t get a placement, but an enjoyable and successful start was made. On Saturday Sören got a score of 7.8 in a style class and was able to win this class!
Laura still is on a wave of success: With Titanium under her saddle the Amazon finished fifth in the 1m20 style class L and became ninth in a 1m20m class. In a 1.20m class with two phases the junior rider was the first participant and showed a clear, very fast, stylistic and controlled round. First place, golden ribbon!
All rounds the twelve year old girl showed in the saddle of the big horse were again marked by an incredible sovereignty and sensibility!

Asvegas  Sportfot

  • Asvegas(auction horse 2010) and Hugo Breul got already several placements in classes up to 1m35 on several shows in France this year, so for example Le Mans, Devaule und Auvers
  • Pia-Marie Schröder had also one very big reason for being happy: The Junior rider was placed third in a 1m40 class with Timberland (auction horse 2009). A great success for the young Amazon with her self educated nine year old gelding. Furthermore the pair was placed third in a 1m30 class. Beside that Pia-Marie won a 1m30 class with her gelding Pascal
  • Quinte (8yo mare by Quidam’s Rubin- for sale) was placed in the Grand Prix of Eschweiler
  • Power Lady and Tim Birckenstaedt showed great performances at CSI Magna Racino and were placed fourth twice in international classes of the Children Tour

08.05.2012 Appreciation, enthusiasm, pride, joy…

Pokerface and Julia Rode

  • Appreciation, enthusiasm, pride, joy, gratitude, acknowledgment, happiness, motivation... I do not know with what words I shall describe my feelings when I look at the successes of the former (auction) horses of my stables ...
  • Oviedo (auction horse 2011) won a youngster class in Eschweiler. The five year old gelding by Ovidius was ridden by Natalie Destree-Kradepohl and got the score 8.0
  • Pokerface (auction horse 2009) and Julia rode competed at the international 3* show in Mannheim and left a mark in the Youngster Tour: four clear rounds, and a seventh rank in the second qualification (1m40) as well as in the final (1m45 with jump-off). A great success for the eight year old gelding!Chiara
  • started also in Mannheim and convinced in all classes: Clear in a 1m40 and 1m45m class, eighth place in the Grand Prix of Mannheim (1m55) and fourth in the Championat of Mannheim (1m50). The nine year old mare by Contender and Lugder Beerbaum are a very successful pair

23.04.2012 Eschweiler Young Masters

While we have two weeks break with shows after the three-week stay in Arezzo , Laura and Titanium went directly to the international competition for young riders, "Eschweiler Young Masters" on Wednesday. Laura was motivated as ever and showed the usual large horse stylistically good rounds. The first day could be the place with two in the first competition for Children (1.20m) on the tenth. In the second jump and also at Children Grand Prix (1.25m) on Sunday, Laura and titanium were unfortunately each one down, but this reduces the power in any case. Laura was the youngest competitor in the classes and showed respectable rounds.

16.04.2012 "Jumping under the Toscan Sun"- but…

Rain, Rain, Rain…. Unfortunately the promotion slogan of the organizer of the Toscana Tour was wrong- at least during the last week of the show. It was raining and raining and raining, what a pity. During the first two weeks our horses jumped exceptionally well, so we decided to start them selective, because we didn’t want to take any risk and loos the positive experiences we got the last weeks.

02.05.2012 Great results

Zaire and Ahmet Yar

  • Even my students have had a quite successful last weekend in Arezzo:
  • Ahmet Yar (TUR) and his gelding Zaire (auction horse 2011) showed beautiful rounds in classes of the Silver Tour. The eight year old gelding and his rider finishes eighth in an international 1.30m class and on Sunday the pair became fifth in a 1.30m two-phases competition. Ahmet rode really concentrated and performed with a super style.

16.04.2012 Pony Grand Prix & clear in 1.25m class

Laura and Titanium

Daughter Laura tried to find her limits during the stay in Arezzo- in terms of placements, as well as her experience. This weekend again the eleven year old girl competed in the 1.20m pony classes and finished third and sixth with Dancing Dream. Because of their good performances and the positive feeling Laura had, we decided to compete in the Pony Grand Prix on Sunday. Laura and her pony finished third in this class. Even they were not clear in the first round, everyone was excited by the nice round and Laura’s “cool” manner to ride such a big class with a brilliant style. With the horse Titanium the eleven year old girl competed in the 1.25m class of the Bronze Tour- correct riding, attentive Titanium- and there was the clear round. In the jump-off they unfortunately had one fault, but this doesn’t reduce the happiness.

Laura and Titanium 1.25m class

10.04.2012 Three days Goch, then back to Arezzo

After two very successful weeks in Arezzo I flew home yesterday, for giving a clinic at my stables. I’m looking forward to train different riders with their horses and give them tipps how to improve their performances. Wednesday evening, directly after the clinic will finish, I will take a plane back to Italy. 18 horses need to be ridden and the students need to be coached during the last week of the Toscana Tour 2012. So no rest at all!

09.04.2012 Rain, but still successful

Little Tinka

  • After almost two weeks blue sky, Tuscan sun and summer feeling, it’s raining now. Especially on Sunday it rained very hard that we decided against competing.
  • Little Tinka was jumping very well during the second weekend and was clear in a 1.35m class. I’m very happy that the gelding feels and jumps so positive
  • Stay On jumped quite easy and was clear in an international 1.30m class
  • Call me Paul and Loris Usic were clear in a class of the Bronze Tour
  • Ahmet Yar with his gelding Zaire (auction horse 2011) and Ricarda Tippkötter with her mare Aska were both clear in a 1.30m class of the Silver Tour. Both rode very nice and showed a stylistic rounds

09.04.2012 High-Flyer of the weekend

Laura and Titanium

Being successful is not enough for her- she wants more, jumping, higher, improving and testing her skills. No one expected such good results when Laura made her personal tests this weekend. With pony Dancing Dream Laura competed in international 1.20m classes for ponies and the finished third, fourth and fifth during the weekend. With Titanium it was even successful- she was the youngest rider in the 1.20m class of the Bronze Tour. Laura was not impressed at all, rode absolutely cool clear round and got the fifth rank. On Saturday Laura rode her first 1.25m class- absolutely accurately like discussed when we walked the course. Laura and Titanium had two faults but the Amazon was unbelievable happy and said “I’m feeling like the winner”. On Sunday the young lady surprised all of us in the 1.20m class of the Bronze Tour. Who was clear, won and send (well known) 49 participants off? Laura Hetzel and Titanium, Germany!

Laura and Titanium

05.04.2012 Youngsters give pleasure to us

It’s a great feeling to compete with highly talented Youngsters and to present them to the Equestrian world. The feeling becomes even better, when the horses show their quality and perform on a perfect manner in the course.
Gertje vh Scheefkasteel is really in topform and was clear in all eight courses during the last two weeks. The classes for yix year old horses are challenging, but Gertje is doing a brilloant job. This week he was placed fourth and seventh. In the final he was double clear and finished third.

Tinka's Queen

Tinka’s Queen (auction horse 2011) is also in perfect condition and accumulates results and experiences. This week she had to jump on the big sand arena the first time. The five year old mare did it very relaxed, even if she looked a little bit around. Tinka’s Queen won two classes this week and I’, as well as her Italian owner is very satisfied and proud of her .
Companiero jumped also very nice rounds. The small gelding is so highly motivated, sometimes is it a challenge to handle his motivation and willingness to perform in the course. This week the six year old talent was placed once.
Polly Pocket got placements in the classes for seven year old horses. The mare had a long break but jumps with lots of scope.

02.04.2012 First week: 4 Victories, 18 Placements

After the young horses presented us an exceptional opening during the first three days, also the „older“ horses showed brilliant performances. The students rode very concentrated and got already a lot of experiences (and results) during the first week. We’re very happy that we had a lot of clear rounds and the horses were placed several times, even there are so many competitors in the classes:

Prudence de Beaufour

  • Little Tinka was shown in the smaller classes of the Gold Tour, just to keep him motivated and riding a little bit on a show. The gelding jumped very fresh and behaved very well. He was placed in a class and clear in a 1.40m on the big grass field.
  • Christine and Tourbillon van de Zuidhoek were clear in a 1.40m of the Silver Tour and finished eighth. Keeping in mind that 126 competitors were in this class- a super result
  • Prudence de Beaufour jumped also very well and was placed eighth in a 1.25m class on the big grass field
  • The eight year old Nom de Guerre (by Eurocommerce Napels) was placed in a 1.30m class of the Silver Tour

Stay On

  • Stay On, nine year old son of Cornet Obolensky, shows also impressionable rounds during his first longer stay on an international show. Ridden by Annika Axelsson the gelding was clear in a 1.20m class and got the tenth rank in a 1.25m class with jump-off. This horse really benefits from the stay in Arezzo and got a lot of experience
  • Full of Hope, six year old mare by Stakkato, performed also very well. The mare was clear and got a placement in a 1.20m class with jump-off.
  • Call me Paul and Lloris Usic were placed third in a class of the Bronze Tour

Full of Hope

Aska

  • Student Ricarda Tippkötter had also a very successful weekend: With Samba Oelek, six year old gelding by Stakkato, the Amazon was clear in classes of the Bronze Tour and got placements. With her mare Aska Ricarda was placed in an international 1.25m class with jump-off.
  • Ahmet Yar and his gelding Zaire (auction horse 2011) delivered brilliant performances in several classes of the Bronze Tour
  • Sören Weissenborn was smiling all day long, because his only six year old mare Each Way Bet heaved so relaxed during their first international show in life. The young pair was placed twice in international Children/Junior classes

02.04.2012 Laura Hetzel, Germany

Laura and Dancing Dream

For daughter Laura pony Dream Dancing and horse Titanium traveled to Italy. Both did a very well job and jumped brilliant with the eleven year old girl in their saddle. Immediately after start of the holidays Laura and her mother flew to Arezzo to participate in the Pony and Children's classes of the CSI. On Saturday we directly start with the competitions and had a perfect opening: With pony Dancing Dream Laura remained clear in an international class and won due to the fastest time. The national anthem for Laura Hetzel, what a moment! Of course we did not expect such a perfect start of the shows, but we had no objections. After that Titanium’s class starts: He fights like always and gave hundred percent for Laura. Clear, fast and second rank in the children class. On Sunday Laura became second with Dancing Dream as well as Titanium, gigantic!

29.03.2012 Super opening with youngster

Tinka's Queen

After a 20 hours drive all our horses arrived safely in Arezzo and were quite fresh on Monday. Tuesday the show began with classes for young horses. The beginning was made by Tinka’s Queen and it could not have been better. The mare presented herself perfect during all three days and jumped so elastic and easy. You could have the impression that she jumped already hundreds of classes in her young life, but this were her first competitions outside. Three starts, three clear rounds, three victories- what a horse! It was just fun to present this mare with her exceptional way of jumping.

Gertje van het Scheefkasteel jumped also fantastically well. The gelding is in my stable since February and this was the first show I rode him. After all three classes during the first week the announcer proclaimed a „clear round“ fort he talented six year old. Even after the jump-off in the final a clear round was announced. The six year old is a real “show horse”, he wants to the other side of the fence and he really knows his job. Four clear rounds, placed fourth twice and finishing second in the final, out of 85 horses. An upcoming superstar!

Companiero is so unbelievable motivated, that it’s sometimes difficult to handle his motivation and his willingness to perform. The gelding jumped really well and was placed in an international class for six year old horses. Even he is not so big, it feels like he can jump over mountains- the gelding has enormous scope and quality! Polly Pocket, bay mare by Colman, competed in the classes for seven year old horses. The mare had a longer break; this is her first show this year. Polly Pocket jumped quite well and was placed in the international classes of the Youngster Tour.
My personal conclusion after the first three days: The youngsters are in a very good condition and it is fun to present them in the international classes. Now the talents have a little bit rest, next Tuesday they will compete again…I’m looking forward!

26.03.2012 Toscana Tour starts

The Toscana Tour in Arezzo offers best possibilities to prepare rider and horses for the upcoming green season. The huge show ground of the Arezzo Equestrian Centre offers perfect circumstances for horses, rider, grooms and visitors for practising and enjoying the equestrian sports. Two big sand arenas, a huge grass arena, sufficient roofed warm up- and training arenas with good ground, a lightly indoor, super boxes for the horses and a perfect organization, even there are so many horses. Shortly- participation at the Toscana Tour pays off.

24.03.2012 "Toscana Tour" is calling

The whole team is planning and packing… A three-weeks show with 18 horses is a logistical effort! Next weekend we are going to Arezzo to compete at the international Toscana Tour for three weeks. Among many young horses, which will be ridden in the youngster tour, we will bring our experienced horses to prepare them best possible for the green season. Furthermore some of my students and their horses will travel with us to use the opportunity to gain experience under optimal conditions! Keep the fingers crossed that we will have good results (and that the sun will shining)!

21.03.2012 Christine at "Löwen Classics"

During the “Löwen Classics” in Braunschweig once again the German Indoor show jumping Championships and also the team's decision have been held. The German Indoor Championship is practically the German Championship of the national riding associations; many top riders competed in these classes. Christine rode brilliant rounds in the saddle of Tourbillon van de Zuidhoek: The pair was clear in the first class (1.45m) and in the second qualification they unfortunately had one fault. Nevertheless they showed a super round in the 1.50m class and finished on the remarkable tenth place in the overall standings of the Championships. Also in the team class on Friday morning (1.40m) the Amazon and her experienced gelding were without faults. Unfortunately, the Rhenish team didn’t have so much luck, so they were not allowed to compete in the second round.

21.03.2012 She goes ahead!

Chiara and Ludger Beerbaum

Four times Olympic champion Ludger Beerbaum and Swedish Malin Baryard-Johnsson were the winning duo last weekend at the highly endowed team jumping competition taking place in the Grand Palais in Paris. Ludger Beerbaum saddled the nine year old mare Chiara (auction horse 2007) in this 1.60m team competition and was clear in both rounds. Both riders received a cheque worth 25.000 euro for the victory. The mare jumped fantastically well in this difficult class of the international 5* show and made her rider very satisfied. On Sunday Ludger and Chiara became tenth in a 1.45m class with jump-off. They were again clear in both rounds. After this renowned show Ludger said that Chiara definitely is a horse for the top top sport and she could be his horse for the World Equestrian Games 2014 in the Normandie. What a success!!!

Shows this weekend (07.-11.03.2012)

06.03.2012 Euroclassics Bremen (CSI***)

The Euroclassics Horse Show in the ÖVB Arena of Bremen was a great event. Both the participants in the Masters League, and the younger rider of the European Youngster Cup showed finest sports with a lot of tension.
I competed with Little Tinka for the first time after a winter break of three months. The gelding presented himself in great shape and jumped brilliant all three days.
In the big class on Saturday as well as in the Grand Prix of Bremen on Sunday, we unfortunately had one fault. On Sunday in the individual Final of the Euroclassics I rode Little Tinka priority for training and conditioning purposes, but at the end the one fault annoyed me more than expected. All demanding exercises of the high course, which was built technically and involved many tasks regarding canter, worked without any problems:
The double and triple combination, distances, everything was very well. Apart from the last jump: Little Tinka touched the pole very very light, but unfortunately the pole of the oxer broke down...

Virginia and Daniela Theelen

  • Aseth (Auction horse 2009) and Antonio Sanfelice became eighth in a 1.30m class in Narni (ITA)

Also in the international 1.35m classes Ahmet presented himself very positive and was placed both times with his eight-year-old horse.

27.02.2012 "... and the winner is..."

Laura and Dancing Dream

Yesterday the stars were shining on Hollywood’s biggest night, when the Academy Awards were held at the Kodak Theatre. The most important sentence was “And the Oscar goes to…”; the movie “The Artists” scooped the market and was the most successful film.
At the “pony talent search” in Hünxe the most important sentence was “and the winner is…”, especially in the afternoon when the top class (Rhenish) pony rider competed for the important classes. Who was the winner of the classes? Who was elected to the best rider?

Laura and Titanium

Last weekend my daughter Laura had her first international show. With Titanium, a four legged professor, the eleven year old Amazon competed in the Children-Tour at the CSI-Ch/J/YR Roggel. We all were absolutely excited by her concentrated and stylistic rounds in all three classes; she behaved so experienced and cool. Unbelievable! On Saturday Laura and Titanium finished third in a 1.15/1.20m class. By the way- she was the youngest participant. Respect, Laura, we are very proud of you!

Aska and Ricarda

Ricarda Tippkötter showed very well rounds in the classes for Young Rider. With the eight year old mare Aska Ricarda was clear in a 1.25m class and in the Young Rider Grand Prix she was qualified for the jump-off.
Carolin Becker can also be very satisfied with her own performance and the presentation of her mare Prudence de Beaufour: In the small Young Rider Grand Prix the pair had only one fault.

07.02.2012 Auction horses reached the top sport

They did it… Former auction horses of my stable succeed in the top sport and reached the highest level! The older, more experienced horses fascinate in Grand Prix on international top shows all over the world and have their homes in stables of the most successful and famous riders. The highly talented youngsters attract attention in classes for young horses and earn highest scores and results:

Kleiner Onkel and Franke Sloothaak  by Liebmann

  • Kleiner Onkel provided sensation at the CSI*** Villach in Austria: The eight year old stallion and Franke Sloothaak were double clear in the Grand Prix with jump-off (1.55m) and finished fourth. The beautiful stallion is a son of Heartbreaker and was an auction horse in 2009. Beside the phenomenal placement in the Grand Prix (they earned valuable FEI-ROLEX- world ranking points) Kleiner Onkel and his rider were placed in a 1.45m class of the Gold Tour on Saturday. Impressing!
  • Wilford (Auction horse 2010) attract attention during CSI** Offenburg: Ridden by World Champion Jos Lansink (BEL) the nine year old gelding had one time fault in the Grand Prix (1.50m). Even they were not qualified for the jump-off the pair was placed in this FEI-ROLEX- world ranking class.

Pokerface and Julia Rode

  • Zechhino was an auction horse in 2011. The eight year old gelding by Quasimodo Z was bought by an Italian sponsor and is stabled with Katrin Eckermann for training. The successful Amazon rode the talented jumper in the Youngster Tour of CSI** Offenburg and was placed in the qualification as well as the Final of the Tour.
  • Timo Beck showed the former auction horse (2009) Pokerface in the Youngster Tour of the CSI** Offenburg. Four rounds, four times clear- a perfect result! The pair became fifth in the second qualification (1.40m). In the final for eight year old horses the son of Couleur Rubin finished eighth. Perfect!

  • Pia-Maria Schröder was also at the show in Roggel. In the saddle of Timberland (auction horse 2009) the junior rider was clear in a 1.30m class. Pascal showed also very good performances: Placed in a 1.30m class and fifth place in the small Junior Grand Prix.

  • Giorgio Bianchi (ITA) and Holiday got the fourth rank in a 1.30m class and were placed in a 1.35m class. His sister Maddalena and Watch Out B were placed in a 1.35m class during the show in Manerbio

02.02.2012 Satisfied with the first show in 2012

I’m very satisfied with the first show in 2012. During CSI** Roggel all horses showed very good performances and confirmed our training schedules, even they had some light and unnecessary faults. Polly Pocket had her first show after a tima and jumped very easy and impressing in the high classes of the Youngster Tour. Adriane, seven year old mare, impressed with her lightness in the high classes. Both mares were very motivated and we’re looking forward to the season to present the high quality youngsters on shows.
Tourbillon van de Zuidhoek was again in top form.
Christine and her four legged athlete were without a jumping fault in the Grand Prix. Unfortunately one time fault prevented the qualification for the jump of. Nevertheless they were placed (again).
Stay On had his first (international) show and showed good performances. The gelding just need experience, but for sure he will become a guaranty for results very soon.

Shows this weekend (19.-22.01.2012)

13.01.2012 Goodbye Daniel, welcome Caroline

After one and a half exciting and successful years, Daniel has left my stable and went back to America. Over there he will start his own business with his fiancée. At this occasion I would like to thank Daniel for his commitment during the time at my stable- he exercised the young horses with lots of passion and motivation and showed them on shows successfully. Daniel also trained the young rider with a lot of enthusiasm and sensitiveness and brought out a lot of substantial progress. Thank you, Daniel!

Since the beginning of the year Caroline Jordan is new in our team. The Dutch woman takes over the exercising and showing the youngsters and undertakes the training of the rider at my stable. Caroline has a lot of experience in training horses and rider, she demonstrated her abilities already nationally and internationally.
The first two weeks of cooperation have been already very positive, Caroline fits perfectly in our team and embodies our philosophy. Horses are her passion and the animals have absolute priority during all work.

04.01.2012 We're looking forward to new tasks

After a few quiet days the whole team starts highly motivated in the New Year. Within the next weeks our focus is on schooling and training the (young) jumping horses and presenting them on shows. The horses present themselves very positive during the daily training. We all are looking forward to exciting and interesting tasks, which will await us in 2012.
