Sport horse sales 2008
245.000 Euros was the premium price at the jumping horse auction of Holger Hetzel. This amount was achieved by the five years old Holsteiner stallion Prince Charming, son of the international successful jumper Casall. “Small but fine” is the philosophy of Hetzels Auction, which took place the fourth time in his equestrian centre of Goch/Germany. 22 horses were selected for the auction and six of them were sold for amounts over 100.000 euros. Prince Charming was purchased by the Italian soccer star Cresco who bought the horse for his wife. Named after the football idol Ribery a five years old Riverman-Amethist-son was sold for 200.000 euros into the stable of Christian Ahlmann. “With our average price of 76000 Euros we achieved a result which is very close behind the result from 2007”, explained Holger Hetzel, who has been a succesful nation cup rider for many years. “I am happy with this result because when you look at the bad economy situation we achieved a good goal.”
Once again the auction could be watched live via Internet. It was possible to bid on a horse by phone while watching the auction – for this service clients had to sign before and make a prepayment of 10.000 euros. Around 6700 spectators looked at the auction in the internet. One of them, a client from Jordan, purchased with this way the Amantus-son All My Dreams for 40.000 euros. World class rider Willi Melliger saved the Quidam de Revel-mare Quidams Lady for 24.000 Euros, and Clarissa Grotta, rider in the swiss stable of Stephan Stamm, purchased Quintessa by Quidams Rubin for 95.000 Euros.
Many auction horses from the former years have founded their way into international sports. For example Radio City with Georgina Bloomberg and VDL Never Ending who has won Youngster Cup Competitions with Leopold van Asten. Chiara by Contender achieved the finals of the Bundeschampionate with 8.9.
