Appreciation for the Silent Heroes – the “Groom’s Award”

Once again this year, the Tiemeyer x Hetzel Young Horse Masters shines a spotlight on those who usually work behind the scenes, yet play a crucial role in every success: our grooms. Without their care, expertise, and tireless dedication, top-level sport would simply not be possible. Thanks to the generous support of Manuela and Uwe Schmitz as well as FRANKONIA Eurobau AG, the Groom’s Award will once again be presented. A dedicated jury observes the behind-the-scenes efforts throughout the event and selects five grooms who demonstrate exceptional empathy and exemplary care in handling their horses.

Each of them will receive a prize of 500 euros – a gesture of recognition and heartfelt appreciation.

“No rider can be successful without their grooms. That’s why we want to express our sincere appreciation for them at this event,” says Uwe Schmitz.

But it’s not only the award winners who deserve to feel seen and appreciated: all grooms receive free meals each day during the show as a gesture of support for their invaluable work. At Hetzel Horses GmbH, we are also deeply aware of the essential role grooms play as the closest and most trusted companions of our four-legged athletes. That’s why – as in previous years – we invite all grooms to enjoy a complimentary breakfast every day of the event.

And during the sporting highlight of the event – the final competitions – we will also honour the grooms of the top three horses on the winners’ podium as part of the official prize-giving ceremonies. With this joint initiative, we aim to send a clear message: for greater recognition, respect, and visibility for the people who, with passion and dedication, care for the horses day in and day out.
