Bidders top the million mark twice

Two horses in the 21-strong collection of top youngsters went under the hammer for prices above the magical one-million-euros mark. Six year old Holstein mare Million Dream certainly lived up to her name as the most expensive auction lot. Sired by Clarimo out of a Casquetto dam, she was sold to a Rhenish businessman and one of Holger’s regular customers after a dynamic bidding battle for EUR 1.8 million. The horse securing the second-highest bid was Super Freak, an Italian-bred gelding by legendary Westphalian sire Cornet Obolensky. The six year old gelding with a Eurocommerce Berlin dam changed hands for a hammer price of EUR 1.3 million. Third place in the bid ranking list is occupied by another six year old horse; this time Belgian-bred mare Herzbeben (by Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Lambada van Berkenbroek) who sold for EUR 600,000.

I am overwhelmed after the auction. I’m completely bowled over. We knew beforehand how few youngsters with this kind of quality there are available on the open market anywhere in the world, and our regular customers had also signalised a high level of interest in advance of the auction. But I never imagined an outcome like this. Besides the buyers, I’d like to thank my fantastic team for playing such an important part in making this an event to remember. There were both German and international buyers, and several of the horses have found their way to new owners overseas.
