Laura's report about her stay in Ireland

Since October Laura is based in Ireland to make her study abroad. Her horses are stabled at Karlswood Centre of Excellence and she trains with Cian O’Connor. Read Laura’s story about her stay in Ireland:

“My name is Laura Hetzel. I’m 20 years old and I come from Germany. As my dad has a showjumping stable himself, I started riding very early.

I have been at Karlswood since October. The first weeks I was able to explore Dublin and the area of county Meath but the recent restrictions mean that my travel is restricted, as is the case in the rest of Ireland and across Europe.

I usually study 'International Business’ in Cologne and spend my semester abroad at Griffith College in Dublin.

At the moment I have more time for the horses and because of Covid-19 my studies are online.

On a day when I have university, the team at Karlswood usually walk the horses in the morning. In the afternoon, after I finish my studies, I have a lesson with Cian or @ross_mul. Before and/or after training me and my horses enjoy hacking on the all-weather gallop.

The team at Karlswood supports me with everything; from feeding plan over walking the horses to creating a training plan tailored to my needs. I can fully concentrate on my studies because I know my horses are in the best hands.

To train on such a beautiful and professional facility makes it easy to switch off from university stress. The whole team at Karlswood helps me with any kind of concern.

The training with Cian and Ross has not only improved my riding skills, but also encouraged the communication with each of my horses.

They have developed an individual training plan for each horse to improve their weaknesses.

Thank you to team Karlswood - and especially Cian and Ross - for everything you do for me!”
