Successful Event Returns for a Fourth Edition

Europe’s richest show for elite young jumping horses will once again attract a large number of riders to Goch at the end of July. Particularly striking is the strong interest from international competitors, who travel to the event not only because of the outstanding conditions but also because of the total prize fund of €200,000 offered in the finals.

The winner of the five-year-old final will receive €25,000 in prize money. In the six-year-old division, the victorious horse will earn €50,000, while the winner of the seven- and eight-year-old final will take home €100,000. The Big Tour for the older horses continues to gain in prestige as well, with the final being endowed with €25,000 for the first time this year.

However, prize money is not the sole reason why riders are eager to compete in Goch. The Tiemeyer x Hetzel Young Horse Masters form part of a combined ranking system that also includes the results achieved by young show jumpers at the German National Championships (Bundeschampionate). The best horses from both events compete for the title of Youngster of the Year in their respective age categories.

Holger Hetzel’s philosophy is to provide the best jumping horses of each generation with the opportunity to demonstrate their talent at two major events and thereby gain recognition from a wide audience. Two horses illustrated this concept particularly impressively last year. The Holsteiner stallion Dior, a son of Diamant de Semilly, finished third in the seven-year-old division at the Tiemeyer x Hetzel Young Horse Masters and secured the Youngster of the Year title after placing fourth at the Al Shira’aa Bundeschampionate. He subsequently achieved the highest price at Holger Hetzel’s International Showjumping Horse Auction in November 2025, selling for €1 million.

Equally successful among the five-year-olds was the Warendorf State Stud stallion Arcassio. Following his victory at the Tiemeyer x Hetzel Young Horse Masters in Goch, he went on to claim the title of German Champion of Five-Year-Old Show Jumping Horses at the Al Shira’aa Bundeschampionate, thereby securing the Youngster of the Year title in convincing fashion. This year, he ranks among the most sought-after jumping horse sires at the NRW State Stud in Warendorf.

Yet the Tiemeyer x Hetzel Young Horse Masters offer far more than top-class equestrian sport. With an exhibition and activity area exceeding 5,000 square metres for the first time, a large children’s entertainment zone, and a wide range of culinary offerings provided by various food trucks, the event promises an enjoyable experience for the entire family.

Thanks to the open layout of the venue, spectators can experience world-class sport at close quarters and enjoy excellent viewing conditions. One of the highlights of the weekend will be the Flanders Foal Auction on Saturday evening, where outstanding show jumping foals will go under the hammer.
